Our Day at OM°A
As a creative designer I have a natural appetite for inviting my children into the world of art and creativity. So I grab any opportunity to bring them in closer. Today I took my boys to our local flagship museum — the Orlando Museum of Art where they annually present about a dozen exhibitions throughout the year.
While it wasn’t as huge of a success in getting my oldest to embark on a lengthy voyage of appreciation for all the galleries there (as I of course played it out in my head), nonetheless it made an impression and brought true curiosity to his growing interest in art.
We came across some insanely cool art pieces like this one. Bold hues and intricate patterns, both chaos and harmony together. Naturally Kristian couldn’t help himself and wanted to touch the biggest brush strokes he’s ever seen on a canvas. As you can imagine the guard did not like that as much. Carrying on…!
He said he could make this one.
Behold, the Andy Warhol pieces.
AW, Flowers, 1970
Like other Pop Artists of the 60’s Andy often chose his subjects from newspaper or magazine images by cropping and enlarging them where he would then transfer them onto paper crafting his most unique screenprint masterpieces.
This brings the sweet nostalgia of both my school days of the art department & my vocation at the infamous Mama’s Sauce Print Shop where every designer wanted to print some kind of magic!
And finally, a couple more personal favorites.
She’s carved from marble. She’s grace, beauty and elegance. Timeless allure and pure reverence for the feminine form.
